Please see attached Karen’s presentation: ‘Coastline Presentation for Community Network - March 2017’

Ian Thompson – Cornwall Council, Property Team

In the past the Council has undertaken a number of studies suggesting various uses. When it’s been taken to market there has been no interest. Discussions are ongoing with Coastline Housing for affordable housing. Cornwall Council Affordable Housing funds have been used to carry out structural studies.

Questions:

  • Suggested contact is made with Town Council to get this on an agenda with the timescale in mind - Karen agreed to contact the Clerk.
  • Can the Town Council have site of the survey reports - Karen agreed to send a copy.
  • Concern for access to the mill.

A: access will be from the housing side not Lidls.

  • What nomination rights does Cornwall Council have over allocations?

A: allocation of all affordable homes goes through the Cornwall Homechoice Scheme.

  • There was a lot of support for the project and development for the area at the meeting.
  • Emphasis that housing is the only scheme viable.
  • What are the average affordable rents?

A: this varies per area. 80% of open market rent.

  • Properties will all be rentals as shared ownership will not be affordable.
