The A30 has reopened after being closed in both directions following a four-vehicle crash that has left one person with serious injuries.

Police were called at around 11.35am today to the A30 at Hayle.

According to traffic monitoring system INRIX, the collision involved a vehicle crossing the central reservation.

The closure affected traffic between Hayle and St Erth, with emergency services currently remaining at the scene.

One person has been taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with injuries described as "serious."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 11.35am today to the A30 at Hayle following reports of a four vehicle collision.

"One person has been taken to Treliske hospital with serious injuries. There are no further reports of injuries at this time.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the incident is ongoing.

"The road is currently closed in both directions."

They went on to confirm later: "Injuries are not being treated as life-threatening or changing."

Highways South West also reported the closure but has since confirmed that both lanes have reopened.

INRIX reported earlier: "All traffic being temporarily held due to serious accident and accident on A30 Hayle Bypass both ways from B3301 Carwin Rise (Loggans Moor roundabout, Hayle) to A3074 Nut Lane (St Erth roundabout, Lelant).

"Traffic has been held in both directions, after an accident involving a vehicle crossing the central reservation."
