HAYLE FILM CLUB:

Brooklyn.  On Thursday March 24 at 7.30pm.

This fairy tale of New York is the showcase for an outstanding performance from Saoirse Ronan as a young woman who leaves rural Ireland for 1950s New York, in a refreshingly old-fashioned movie. She finds romance with a brash Italian-American (Emory Cohen), but on a visit home rediscovers all she has missed about her old life, including possible marriage to the local eligible bachelor (Domhnall Gleeson). The portrayal of her choice between not just two men, but two lives in different worlds, scripted by Nick Hornby, has been acclaimed as one of the best films of 2015, winner of over 20 awards and nominated for many more. As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm. Tickets at £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319, or book online at www.haylefilmclub.org.uk

HAYLE IN BLOOM:

Seen Daffodil Alley yet?  Do have a stroll along the King George Walk and see the daffodils lining the path.  They are a picture, and a walk is a pleasant way to spend an hour or so. The guided walk on the King George Walk was held for the first time last Thursday, and those in attendance heard the history of the Copperhouse, an interesting story thanks to Georgina, of Hayle in Bloom and the Hayle Archive.  We hope that the monthly programme will grow in popularity over the summer months. Please come, and tell your friends. Next month's event will be held on Thursday April 8, and is for the children, who will be on Easter School holidays.  There will be a Nature Trail, with surprises along the way.  Children of all ages welcome, but need to bring an adult with them.  Meet at 10.30am at the Greenhouse.  £2.50 per child.  Dogs OK, but must keep their humans on a lead. The Quiz held at the Old Quay House was a cheerful occasion and raised funds for Hayle in Bloom.

Hayle in Bloom are looking forward to the Foundry Square olive trees being replanted in brand new tubs, thanks to local business man Dave Dobson.  Support like this from locals is much appreciated - individuals, businesses and Councils.  Thanks to all. It is sad that there are some in the community of our lovely town who are hell bent on spoiling it.  Litter, including plenty of dog poop, and broken flowers and plants in the tubs and gardens are far too frequent.  Hayle in Bloom urges everyone to Keep Britain Tidy, especially as the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday on April 21, and the whole country has been asked to clean up in her honour.

SUE'S WOOL SHOP:

Sue's Fabric and Wool shop formerly of Pratts Market Hayle has reopened as Woolly Sue's at 5 Albert Street Penzance 01736 361386 and would be delighted to see their "old" customers.
