We're making the final preparations ready for tomorrow's Health and Wellbeing Festival. Make sure that you come down to Hayle Recreation Ground ready to get involved. We'll be starting at 2pm with a talk all about the thyroid throughout the lifecycle with Ruby from Rooted Nutrition and a yoga session with Jennie Atkinson Yoga so if you want to join in be sure to get down here promptly and grab your space. Bring a yoga mat if you have one and make sure that you wear comfy clothes.

And for those of you who can't get down on the ground but still want to do a spot of yoga, join Tracey from Root Training Community Interest Company for her Chair yoga session at 3pm.

Can't wait to see you there! There really is something for everyone and we're also going to have a Mobiloo on site to make the festival as inclusive as we can.

Sustainable Hayle are just one of the many organisations that will be at Hayle Health and Wellbeing Festival on Saturday 14th September at Hayle Recreation Ground (2 - 5pm). You can find out more about them and how you can get involved in their projects.
We've got so many amazing local groups and individuals in Hayle that give their valuable time to looking after the people and environment and many of them will be involved on Saturday.

People like Tracy from The waite room CIC who will be bringing along Swap Box. Tracy conducts regular town litter picks and quite frankly, does everything in her power to support the health and wellbeing of so many people in the town. She'll also be bringing along Georgina from Pets as Therapy.

We're also looking forward to tasting The REC cafe hayle 's vegan chilli and five bean salad that Nathan is cooking up especially for the event.

So whether you want to try something new or simply want to find out how you can get more involved in the community, pop on down to the Rec on Saturday 2 - 5pm!

We're even bringing a Mobiloo! It's an accessible changing place/loo.

Wed, 11/09/2024 - 23:16
Last evening (5 September 24), during a meeting of the Full Council, updates were received from the Harbour Master on behalf of Hayle Harbour Authority and representatives of the North Quay Development, who own and are responsible for that area. They responded to many of the questions raised by the Councillors and the public that were in attendance, confirming that they are permitted to dredge in accordance with the 1989 Hayle Harbour Act, and that the amount of sand removed from the channel is logged and closely monitored. Councillors recognise the need for a safe navigable channel to access the harbour but ultimately, they also have grave concerns about the possible long-term damage to the local environment and ecology and believe that the reinstatement of a routine sluicing regime would be more beneficial, and acceptable to the Hayle community. Hayle Town Council resolved to write to several stake holders including Natural England, RSPB, Environment Agency, Cornwall Council and the local MP, Perran Moon, to advise them of the potential damage of the dredging, to seek their views, to share any information they may have including environmental reports, monitoring assessments, geomorphology reports and to work with us to help find a positive resolution to suit/benefit all parties and St Ives Bay. It was further agreed to write to the owners and the Harbour Master to request that they change from a dredge and remove policy to dredge and dune replenishment, and that they look to find ways to repair and/or automate the gates and equipment in order to reinstate sluicing.

Hayle Health and Wellbeing Festival is all about trying new things and connecting with others

Fri, 06/09/2024 - 15:16
Hayle Health and Wellbeing Festival is all about trying new things and connecting with others. Whether you want to try chair Zumba, take part in creating a piece of community art or simply want to taste food you’ve never tried before, this event has been curated with you in mind.

Connecting with others can be a real challenge when you have caring responsibilities, are working long hours or you just don’t know people. Pop down to Hayle Recreation Ground on Saturday 14th September 2 – 5pm and find out the different ways that you can connect with the community. From learning how to build a polytunnel for a community farming project to crafting over a cuppa, the possibilities in Hayle are plentiful and rewarding.

We’ve lined up a whole host of organisations to create an afternoon of discovery for you. Some activities will be at set times in the afternoon while others will be running throughout the afternoon for you to drop in to and get involved. A full programme of activities for the afternoon will be released the week commencing 9th September.

Pop on some comfy clothes and footwear and come down to the Rec on Saturday 14th September (2 – 5pm).
