More details are to be given by a Cornish developer behind 40 new homes being built in West Cornwall.

Treveth, Cornwall Council’s development company, has announced that it will be holding a public consultation event later this month, to outline its detailed plans for an affordable-led housing scheme in the village of Connor Downs near Hayle.

Anyone moving into the new properties must have a Cornish connection.

Outline planning permission has already been granted and last July Treveth held an initial consultation about the designs.

Now it is inviting the local community to come and view the developed plans on Wednesday, March 27, between 2pm to 7pm, at the Women’s Institute (WI) Hall in Turnpike Road, Connor Downs, TR27 5DT.

The informal drop-in session will provide detail on the site layout, landscaping design and house types, as well as offer an opportunity for local people to talk to the team behind the proposed new development and provide feedback on the scheme.

A spokesperson said: “Treveth prides itself on being a developer with a difference – the company was set up to deliver new homes to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall.

“As such the proposed scheme at Connor Downs will offer homes to people with a local Cornish connection through residency, employment, or close family, and address the local housing need by delivering a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, bungalows and two-storey homes, across a range of tenures.”

The event is the last opportunity for local people to provide their thoughts and feedback on the scheme ahead of a ‘reserved matters’ planning application being made to Cornwall Council to determine the finer details of the development.

There will be an opportunity to submit feedback at the event or complete an online questionnaire at www.treveth.co.uk/connordowns The consultation website and questionnaire will be live from Wednesday, March 27 until Friday, April 5.

Tom Davey, development manager at Treveth, said: “We’re looking forward to unveiling our proposed plans for 40 new homes in Connor Downs.

“It’s no secret that Cornwall is currently in the midst of a housing crisis. We need to start bringing more high-quality new build homes to local people and we’re pleased that Treveth is the developer that can bring these homes forward.

“Our first community event was really well attended, and provided us with some valuable input that we considered when developing our design proposals for the site. We’re looking forward to meeting with local residents again and providing the opportunity to view our developed proposals.

“Attendees will be able to see display boards which highlight what the development could look like, alongside receiving more information about the types of homes that will be coming to Connor Downs, as well as Treveth’s approach to sustainability and its ethos for delivering homes for local people where they are much needed.”

Founded by Cornwall Council, Treveth now manages 96 properties across three developments.

The company was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and to increase the availability of homes across the rental, shared ownership, and private rental sectors. Treveth currently has more than 300 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard and Bodmin.

Treveth has also successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council, including Heathlands View at Bodmin, The Coppers at Tolvaddon and Tregover at Newquay.
