Four hundred years after China gave tea to the world, a Cornish company is exporting tea - to China. Tea, which until the 17th century was an international monopoly controlled by the Chinese, is now being exported to China from Cornwall. Cornish Tea & Coffee Company (CTCC) dispatched its first consignment of products to its Chinese customers in October 2016 and with retail sales going well, demand for Cornish tea is 'Peking' with five more Chinese superstores now stocking up Smugglers...

Police are understood to have surrounded a house in Callington where they believe a man may be armed with a weapon. Residents have been told to stay indoors for their own safety while police negotiators talk to the man. He is reported to be a 27 year old. A campsite was evacuated and a major incident was declared after a fire broke in a farm building containing gas on the Isles of Scilly. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 3.20am from St Mary's about the fire in a farm building near King Edwards Road. Both appliances from St. Mary's were mobilised and were on scene in nine minutes but the building was already well alight and oxyacetylene was known to be contained in the building. A yacht which was sinking off the coast of Cornwall has been successfully towed back to safety. The alarm was raised at 8am this morning after the boat began taking on water. It was reported that the three crew members, from Ireland, were waist-deep in water.
