Miles Guiver of St Just jailed for perverting course of justice...
A man has been jailed for perverting the course of justice after he volunteered to be electronically tagged in place of his housemate.
The judge in the case said the sentence must send a clear message to those who attempt to abuse the curfew tagging system – used by courts as an alternative to prison – that they will face jail themselves.
Miles Guiver, of Chapel Road, St Just, in west Cornwall, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at Truro Crown Court.

Police
seized almost £17,500 worth of cannabis and equipment after raids on five houses in Liskeard, Looe and Drakewalls, Gunnislake.

A30, A39 and A3075 delays for drivers in Cornwall as holiday...
Drivers are facing severe delays on the A30 this lunchtime, with long queues forming in several locations.
Traffic is particularly heavy heading eastbound towards the Carland Cross roundabout, with queues reportedly several miles long.
There are also long delays heading eastbound through the roadworks at Temple, which stretch back to the A391 junction west of Bodmin.

Bodmin main road to reopen for Royal Cornwall Show and this is...
The roadworks that residents said are paralysing Bodmin, causing shop closures, impacting on the independence of disabled people as well as harming the health of schoolchildren will not be finished when they were meant to.
Originally scheduled to take nine months from last September, Cornwall Council has now said they will not be completed by the summer. But the good news is the main road through Bodmin will be reopened in time for the Royal Cornwall Show.

Stithians Lake crash appeal launched by police to trace three...
Police are appealing for the drivers of three cars to come forward as potential witnesses to a crash which claimed the life of a young mother.
A 29-year-old woman from Redruth, named locally as Hazel Brown, died after her silver Ford Fiesta, left the road and plunged into the isolated Stithians Lake on the evening of Tuesday, May 16.
The fatal incident happened just after 8.30pm at Hillside, just outside of the hamlet of Carnmenellis, by the south side of the lake.
