A pensioner who advertised that his village butcher shop was 'now open' by writing on a road sign says he has been victimised and threatened with legal action by Cornwall Council. Ralph Michell, 74, wrote in felt tip pen 'now open' after his shop in Calenick re-opened after two years. An elderly man is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash between two cars. Witnesses are being asked to come forward after a 78-year-old received life-threatening injuries. A Second World War veteran was given the most fitting of military send-offs at a service packed out by veterans, serving RAF personnel and family and friends. Dennis Garrad, from Illogan, who served as ground crew in the RAF Bomber Command, passed away on May 8 aged 94 and spent the past 53 years as a member of the RAF Association.
