At 8am, inside the prison walls, Russell Pascoe was hanged, making the 23-year-old, according to research, the joint-third-last person to be executed in the United Kingdom.
Pascoe, along with Dennis John Whitty, 22, was convicted of murdering reclusive farmer William Rowe at his remote home at Nanjarrow Farm, Constantine, on August 14, 1963.

After more than two years of roadworks a new stretch of dual carriageway on the
A30 at Temple was officially opened on Friday.
It is the latest in a history of major improvements to the main route into Cornwall that have been ongoing since the 1970s in a bid to ease congestion.
At Temple the existing A30 was widened to create a dual carriageway, but previous improvements have seen completely new sections and bypasses built, consigning parts of the old A30 route to history.

A warning has gone out about the dangers of drugs after a 15-year-old girl died when she took a 'legal high' in a park and two others were taken to hospital, according to police. Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating the tragedy and urged parents to speak to their children about the dangers of drugs.

A former BT worker who went missing has told of how he made an incredible recovery after living for weeks in a tunnel with no access to food or water. James Thompson said he returned from deaths door when he had to survive underground on his wits when he became sick, frostbitten and dehydrated.
